What it is

Most film sites ask for a single number or star rating. ScreenMetric asks for up to ten; nine for each part of the craft and the last for Impact / Entertainment. A single score cannot tell you whether a film won you over with its photography or its soundtrack, and that gap is the whole reason the app exists.

Every category is optional. Score only the ones you have a view on, and the film still gets an overall figure. Rate just Impact / Entertainment and that becomes the overall score, so a quick verdict stays quick. Fill in the rest and you get a breakdown that shows where a film succeeded and where it fell down.

A film's page shows your own scores first. The community average for a category stays hidden until you have rated that category yourself, so the crowd cannot influence your judgement before you have formed it. TMDB's own film rating sits alongside for comparison.

The ten categories

What it is not

ScreenMetric does not tell you what you should watch. Discover shows what is trending on TMDB, the same list for everyone, and the films it shows you are not tailored to your taste. Recommendations and other AI-powered features are planned for a later version.

ScreenMetric is not a social network. You can claim a username and publish reviews, and you can like other people's. There is no following and no messaging. Your category scores are private: they feed the community averages anonymously, and your score becomes public only when attached to a review you write.

Boilerplate

Copy these as they are, or edit them to fit. Both languages say the same thing.

English, one sentence

ScreenMetric is a film rating app that scores ten categories separately rather than folding everything into one number, and it does the ordinary things too: public reviews, a watchlist, and statistics drawn from your own scores.

English, one paragraph

ScreenMetric is a film rating app built on the idea that one score cannot describe a film. Instead of a single number or star rating, you rate up to ten categories separately: nine crafts, among them direction, cinematography, acting and musical score, plus an overall Impact / Entertainment score. Every category is optional, so you score what you have an opinion about and skip the rest. Everything else a film app needs is there too. You can search, browse what is trending, see where a film is streaming in your country, keep a watchlist, publish reviews under a username you claim, and read statistics built from your own scores. The app is free, runs on iPhone, iPad, Android and Apple silicon Macs in 16 languages, and is made by the Norwegian developer Andreas Thyholdt under dbConsult AS.

What the free version does

The rating scale is the idea the app is built on, but it is not the whole app. Everything below is free, with no trial period and no advertising anywhere.

Rating Score any of the ten categories on any film, edit or delete a rating later, and fold categories you never use out of the way
Film pages Full cast and crew, genres, age rating, a trailer link, and a tap-to-zoom poster, on top of the score breakdown
Where to watch Streaming availability by country from TMDB and JustWatch, with the services you already subscribe to highlighted
Finding films Search, a Discover tab of what is trending, and Top Rated and Hidden Gems leaderboards built from ScreenMetric's own scores rather than TMDB's
People Open any director, actor, cinematographer or composer to see their filmography and what you have rated of it
Watchlist Bookmark anything you want to see
Public reviews Write up to 10,000 characters under a username you claim, edit or delete it later, read and like other people's, and report or block an author whose reviews you would rather not see
Statistics Your rating distribution, your average per category, your most-rated decades and genres, and your top three directors, actors, cinematographers and composers
IMDb import Bring in your first 100 films from an IMDb export, which becomes each film's Impact / Entertainment score
Everywhere 16 languages, light and dark themes, and everything synced to your account rather than to one phone

Pro deepens several of these rather than unlocking the basics. The comparison worth drawing is between the two tables, not between a free trial and a paid app.

Pricing

ScreenMetric Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Buying it once covers both platforms, because it belongs to your ScreenMetric account rather than to a phone or a store: sign in elsewhere and Pro is already there.

Pro launches at 9.99 US dollars. That is a launch price and it will rise when the next Pro feature ships, as stated on both store listings.

What Pro adds

Streaming alerts A notification when a film on your watchlist starts streaming on a service you subscribe to
Full IMDb import Import your whole IMDb history. The free tier covers the first 100 films in total, and picks up where it stopped if you upgrade later
Craft analytics Turns your ratings into a portrait of your taste: which crafts your enjoyment tracks, and which you judge hardest
Rating history A per-film timeline of how your overall score and each category moved every time you re-rated it
People rankings Your top 10 directors, actors, cinematographers and composers, ranked by the category each is credited for, rather than the top 3
Sort by craft Order your ratings by any single category instead of the overall score, so you can ask which films you rated highest for cinematography alone
Export Your ratings as CSV or JSON, whenever you want them
Premium themes Three more app themes on top of light and dark: sepia, noir and technicolor

Two of the twelve open the 640-pixel WebP instead, because no native capture exists for them: the IMDb import screen and the theme preview. Ask if you need either at full size. Tablet captures and the App Store preview videos are available on request too.

Logo and brand assets

The app icon is the logo. Give it clear space, and write the name ScreenMetric as one word with both capitals.
